I first learned about the Kentucky Brotherhood Ride through my friends, and immediately connected with its message and what it stands for. My first ride was in 2023, which also marked the 10-year anniversary of the tragic Air Evac crash (AE 109), where we lost all lives onboard. Our route that year took us through areas to honor AE 109, and that was my initial reason for participating. However, as I learned the names on our jerseys, I realized I personally knew most of them, having worked closely within the community. In the flight world, we build strong relationships with EMS, fire, and police across the state.
That first year, I didn’t fully understand what I was getting into, but I quickly fell in love with the mission. It means so much to me to show the families that their loved ones will never be forgotten. I frequently work in Tennessee with Air Evac bases, so when I saw the Tennessee Brotherhood Ride starting, I knew I had to support it and help spread the mission across the state. My goal is to inspire people in Tennessee to grow the Brotherhood Ride, just like it has in Kentucky.
I ride for AE 109, AE 122, and AE 133, honoring the 9 lives lost in those crashes, as well as for Officer Logan Medlock, who was killed in the line of duty. Logan’s mother is my neighbor, and his loss has always been personal to me.
